Job description:
Reporting to the Quality Manager (QM), the Deputy QM will perform the following tasks, among other:
Support to the Quality Management System
· Support the definition, implementation and maintenance of the project Quality Management System,
· Assist in the periodic update of the Project Quality Plan and associated procedures,
· Promote compliance with quality procedures across project teams,
· Subcontractor Quality Management,
· Support the Quality Manager in subcontractor qualification and supervision activities,
· Review subcontractor quality documentation when required (Quality Plans, ITPs, procedures),
· Participate in the review of FAT and SAT reports,
· Support the review of Inspection Release Certificates (IRC),
· Attend meetings with subcontractors to address quality issues and documentation comments.
Audits
· Participate in client audits and internal audits,
· Support the follow-up and closure of audit findings and corrective actions,
· Assist in subcontractor audits under the supervision of the Quality Manager,
· Inspection and Manufacturing Follow-up,
· Support supervision of Manufacturing Inspection Points (MIPs) and ITPs,
· Coordinate with QC inspectors and NDT teams to ensure inspection activities are properly planned and executed.
Non-Conformity Management
· Assist in the identification, recording and follow-up of NCRs and INCs,
· Update NCR status lists and support communication with the client regarding non-conformities,
· Support internal coordination to ensure timely closure of actions.
Documentation and Reporting
· Support the issuance and review of quality-related project documentation, including:
· Technical Instructions
· Work Instructions
· Project Quality documentation
· Contribute to the weekly quality progress report, consolidating inputs from the QC team,
· Support the preparation of presentations and attend coordination meetings with the client (F4E / IO).
Lessons Learned and Continuous Improvement
· Support the identification and follow-up of lessons learned,
· Assist in documenting improvement actions and coordinating their implementation within the team.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Required university degree:
Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, or similar.
Required professional experience:
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in quality roles within highly regulated industrial projects (ideally nuclear),
Experience in nuclear safety or nuclear-quality frameworks will be valued
Experience in piping construction projects will be valued,
Experience in maintaining quality certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 19443) will be valued,
Experience coordinating or supervising QC and NDT teams will be valued.
Required technical knowledge:
· Quality Standards & Regulations: Knowledge of international quality standards (ISO 9001, ASME) and experience with internal and external quality audits.
· Quality Tools: statistical analysis for continuous improvement and project management,
· Nuclear Safety: experience or knowledge of nuclear safety regulations and standards is a plus, ensuring compliance with safety protocols on nuclear-related projects (specially in France),
· Knowledge of welding processes and standards: revision of reviewing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and ensuring compliance with international standards,
· Knowledge of welding qualifications and certifications: experience in certifying welders and ensuring adherence to relevant certifications, as well as managing Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR),
· Implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP): skilled in developing and executing ITPs for welding activities, ensuring that all quality checks, inspections, and NDT are completed to meet project specifications,
· Nuclear Welding of Piping and Supports: Proven knowledge of welding processes applied to piping systems and structural supports in nuclear and high-integrity environments, including butt welds and socket welds, awareness of full penetration requirements, and compliance with applicable codes (RCC-M / ASME),
· Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) & Leak Testing: Experience supporting and supervising NDT activities, including radiographic testing (RT), visual testing (VT) and leak tests (helium, pressure or tightness tests), ensuring proper execution, documentation review, acceptance criteria compliance and interface with inspectors and client representatives,
· Inspection Readiness: Ability to coordinate welding and NDT activities to ensure inspections are correctly prepared, witnessed and released, minimizing rework and non-conformities.
Soft skills
· Teamwork & Communication: Ability to work closely with QC inspectors, engineers, subcontractors and the client quality representatives,
· Reporting: Support in the preparation of quality reports, KPIs and presentations for project management and the client,
· Continuous Improvement: Contribution to identifying improvement opportunities, reducing cost of poor quality and supporting root cause analyses,
· Ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments, manage priorities, support demanding schedules, and ensure compliance with quality and contractual requirements.
Languages:
Spanish and English mandatory
French will be considered an asset
Job location:
Cadarache, France (near Aix-en-Provence and Marseille). The position is projected to last about 6 to 12 months, with the possibility to continue working for EAG in another of its numerous engineering/EPC projects.
