Project Cost Controller – ITER Nuclear Fusion Project
Are you ready to be part of one of the most ambitious energy projects in human history? ITER, the world’s largest nuclear fusion reactor, is pushing the boundaries of science and engineering to provide a limitless source of clean energy. As a Project & Cost Control Responsible you will play a key role in managing and coordinating critical aspects of cost control, scheduling, and project structure, ensuring the success of this groundbreaking initiative.
Your Key Responsibilities
General Tasks
- Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly reports on project control activities,
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) across all project phases, ensuring alignment with scheduling (P6), cost control (Excel), manufacturing, and invoicing,
- Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure project progress,
- Oversee and align project baseline tasks, ensuring consistent criteria for planning and execution,
- Monitor compliance with hourly rates, CBS allocations, direct and indirect costs, and overall project profitability,
- Ensure accuracy in reported hours, reconciling weekly and monthly reports and resolving discrepancies,
- Track and integrate contract amendments, adjusting cost structures, planning, and reports accordingly,
- Identify and resolve inconsistencies in timesheets and cost reports.
Specific Tasks
- Review and validate purchase orders based on budget allocations and CBS structure,
- Monitor and control costs related to indirect personnel (administrative, legal, financial),
- Prepare internal cost control reports and cash flow analyses,
- Establish and oversee the entire cost structure of the program, ensuring proper categorization and tracking of expenses:
- CBS structure and budget estimates,
- Purchase orders and awarded contracts,
- Direct and indirect cost breakdown,
- Timesheets, labor calendars, and invoicing workflows,
- Develop automated reporting tools for streamlined financial oversight,
- Optimize and refine the project’s invoicing module to align with structural and financial requirements.
Job requirements
- A relevant higher education degree (Bachelor/grado or Master's degree in Economics, Engineering, or other relevant degree for the position).
- Fluent English (negotiation level),
- 5+ years of experience in cost control, cost estimation, and production control,
- Willingness to travel as needed for project coordination,
- This position can be based on-site, in Cadarache, near Aix-en-Provence, in the south of France (preferred option); or in our HQ in Madrid which would then require spending at least 2 weeks per month on-site, for the duration of the project.
This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a transformative energy project that could change the world. If you're passionate about precision, efficiency, and working on the cutting edge of science, we’d love to hear from you!
